Sorry I am late on the topic but has Howse gave up hockey? or did he just not want to play in the Flames organization anymore ? I had high hopes for that kid and always used to take him when playing NHL 11.

Not many updates on the situation, but what its coming down to is that he wasnt physically ready for the year and for (from what it seems) personal reasons, decided not to show up to camp.

I am just trying to figure out if a team would take a flyer on him? does he still have offensive potential or is he just a total bust ? can other teams sign him or is it anything like kovy retiring ? just with the devils being so shallow in offensive prospects its nice when you can just pick one up for nothing even if he needs some grooming.

Lets put it this way - not showing up to camp at his age, doesnt generally equate into many teams showing interest in you. Hes likely decided to take a different career path at this point. My guess.

this game was not as close as the score would say. it was pretty one sided and the Sens got a bit sloppy once they were up 3-0. the Flames weren't really in this game after the first period.

I agree...I felt that the Flames were trying a little too hard to be physical but I got the impression it was directions taken from the coach. Hartley is trying to get his team to focus on hard work, defensive play and physicality. Right now isnt REALLY the time to try and bury 4-5-6 goals (not that they could have necessarily achieved this anyways), but they want to work on playing systemically.

This will mark the first full training camp/preseason with Hartley, so he's still working on teaching the rookies his systems...and new players for that matter.

Nice to see Knight get one. This is pretty much what we can expect this year. A lot of losses but growth of many young players. Gonna be a tough year but at least we know were going to get better. This year is going to be at the bottom, but onward & upward after that.

Watching the highlights the two goals they showed on Berra looked closer to shots that should be saved as opposed to great shots he had no chance at ... Just my opinion.... Anyone else feel the same or am I alone ?

Maybe one of the two...but the ones I saw (albeit quick replay) they looked like lazers.

Yeah the replay was not the best ... Just curious of others opinion and have tried to tell myself it's just preseason so u can't get too excited or too down on players without watching entire games. I've heard so many good things either on here it on the radio on sielof ... Does he have a legit shot or just putting on a good showing for future ?

apparently McGrattan "really" got his point across, from the way peter maher was announcing it.

Feaster said in an interview that Howse went to Conroy and said he wasn't sure if he wanted to play. Ultimately, the kid didn't have the fire to play the game at pro level. Probably best he figured it ojt early and can move on to the next chapter of his life.

any shot the goalie can see should be saved, I don't care how good of a shot it is. Unless it's deflected, screened or a rebound there's no reason for a goalie to not make the save.

Watched the highlights and it looked like Berra was on his knees by the time the shots were taken. He will have to work on that. That was one of the main problems with Karlson.

Glad the flames are playing physical. They will not win many games this year, but they won't be pushed around.

I don't blame them, facing one of the teams with the best prospect pools while rebuilding... can't expect to actually win those games.

Nah Sdao is a tough cookie and already better talented than McGrattan so I guess the point that went across meant really not much to Sdao.

Sieloff has a shot to play this year for sure. He will need to continue to improve his play throughout preseason but theres a strong chance there.
